Mobile, user journeys and interaction

Breedr is a data-driven technology platform for the livestock industry that focuses on improving global standards, productivity and traceability.

Problem

Only 17% of users that download the app complete the form.

We potentially lose 83% of our users at this stage

Goal

Double the sign-up conversion.

34% and above is a good target

'The average conversion rate across categories in the US was 31% on the App Store and 33% on Google Play'

How we solved it

  • Review our current form
    • Something in the sign-up form is causing users to drop out.
    • Too many form inputs
    • Some form inputs are confusing (not enough context)
    • Some aren’t necessary and cause a barrier to entry
    • Poor design
    • Taking a user out of the app to a web page meant the experience wasn’t
    • flowing
    • The long form put them off
    • Weren’t sure what to fill in
    • Didn’t have all the information at hand

How, continued...

  • Research
    • Competitor analysis
    • Other Apps
  • Wireframe
  • Test
  • Monitor user data
  • Iterate

Key learnings

  • Show concepts early
  • Don’t confuse farmers
  • Only ask relevant questions
  • Use motion to design a pleasant flow

What next?

  • How do we continue to improve?
  • What else do we monitor/track?
  • What about the 55% who don’t sign up?
  • How do we know if the project is successful?
